Victorine, a character inspired by Manet's model, Victorine Meurant, posing for the "Déjeuner sur l'herbe", is the narrator of this story of liberation and empowerment.
It all begins with a bad joke. A mischievous cousin slips a beetle into Victorine's bodice, which, in a panic-stricken scream, tears off everything:
shirt, petticoats, corset. Once rid of the insect, she catches her breath in the sun and enjoys the strange sensation of being free! Then begins a sweet and dreamlike journey among the works of the greatest impressionist painters.
The second character embodies the male and/or authoritarian figure of the story,... but also the clowness, who will be benevolent and enlightening with Victorine.
The two protagonists are narrators embarked in their own story, using the book as an object as a third partner. The reading becomes a dance until Victorine, from a bourgeois family and promised a future, breaks her chains and becomes the master of the game.
